The national debt:  now at $38 trillion

“One trillion dollars of debt — if we as a nation needed a warning, let that be it.” — from the President Of The United States in 1981, a president who would not recognize his political party of today.

Note:  It took America 205 years to accumulate $1 trillion of debt…after winning two world wars, fighting two smaller wars, struggling through the Great Depression, fighting a Cold War for over three decades, fighting years of inflation due to oil embargoes from the Middle East, building most of a vast network of interstates, and safely sending men to the moon and back six different times…seven if you want to count Apollo 13.

This year, it took less than ten months to accumulate another $1 trillion of debt.   Actually, it took just two months and ten days to accumulate another $1 trillion of debt.

  • August 11, 2025:   $37 trillion
  • October 21, 2025:  $38 trillion
