APRIL 15
A smarter tax code needed to pay down the $36.7 trillion national debt.
GREED…AND THE LACK THEREOF
greed \\ n (1609) : a selfish and excessive desire for more of something (as money) than is needed
LACK OF GREED (15 reasons why greed is overrated)
Pete Maravich didn’t get paid much to set all those college basketball records still held today, though he did get paid to play basketball after his college years. Chuck Yeager, the Apollo astronauts who walked on the moon, and John Wooden never demanded an excess amount from their employers for what they did best, but they did get paid for doing what they did best. Chuck Yeager got paid by the military to be a test pilot. The Apollo astronauts got paid by NASA to go to the moon and back. And John Wooden was paid by UCLA to coach basketball.

Previously I had written that in the late 60’s/early 70’s, that William Peter Blatty was working towards winning an Oscar. I thought I remembered reading in a book somewhere that he was researching the story during the late 60’s, but I was unable to find much of anything on the internet to support that claim.
However, I did find that after him seeing the 1968 film Rosemary’s Baby, Blatty told his wife that he wanted to write a story like that. I also found that on New Year’s Eve of 1969 while attending a party, Blatty ran into the editor of Bantam Books, who asked Blatty what he was working on. Blatty responded that he was working on the story of a child possessed by a demon. The editor said, “I’ll publish that.” This led to Blatty signing a contract and was given a financial advance to write the novel about a demon-possessed child.
So there we have it…the evidence that he was headed towards winning an Oscar in the late 60’s. And of course, he began writing at his home the book that was published in 1971. Blatty would then write the adapted screenplay and produce the film released at the end of 1973. A film that would win him an Oscar in 1974.
SPEAKING OF THE DEMONIC
So apparently, there are many demons in California.
A mother of a child who had been socially transitioned behind her back by the school system in California was upset and decided prayer was needed. So she began her prayer, and soon there were many demonic responses to her after she used the name of Jesus. After the mayor (apparently the mayor) stopped her and told her “we don’t do prayer”, the mayor gave the mother 28 seconds to finish with her comments.
The mother continued with her Constitutional right to pray. The mayor interrupted her just seven seconds later, followed by the word “stop” a few seconds later. And 21 seconds after giving the mother 28 seconds, the mayor told her repeatedly that her time was up.
Anyway, if you ever get to see this clip of this mother praying in Ventura, California, be sure to take note of the demonic responses in that room as she prayed.
And speaking of the demonic and the politically-correct, praying for loved ones and other people who have been confused by the government and the public school system has been outlawed in Australia apparently.

Nixon’s vice-president, Spiro Agnew, would have been the 38th president. But he had to resign from office in October of 1973 for failing to report $29,500 of income in 1967. It’s called income tax evasion. Otherwise, he would have been the 38th president.
I feel a loop coming on.
INCOME TAXES & THE APOLLO ASTRONAUTS
“If anyone from the IRS is watching, I forgot to file my 1040 Return and I meant to do it today, but…” / “That’s no joke. They’ll jump on him.” –from Apollo 13
THE INCOME OF TEST PILOTS
“A controversy arose over just how much bonus Slick Goodlin should receive for assaulting the dread Mach 1 itself. Bonuses for contract test pilots were not unusual, but the figure of $150,000 was now bruited about. The Army balked, and Yeager got the job. He took it for $283 a month, or $3,396 a year, which is to say, his regular Army captain’s pay.” –from the book The Right Stuff

After Walt Disney’s death in 1966, his brother Roy took over the project of building a park larger and improved upon the version of Disneyland in California. Walt Disney Productions began construction on the Magic Kingdom and the entire resort in 1967. The theme park opened on October 1, 1971. It has become the world’s most visited theme park.
In 2023, Americans spent $28.4 billion on amusement parks, about a 17% increase over the previous year. There were over 600 amusement establishments in 2023.
The Magic Kingdom is located between Orlando and The Gulf Of Mexico, though much closer to Orlando.
Many people still attend the park despite the fact that the Disney company has fought against Florida’s parental rights legislation in recent years. Parents still taking their children to Disney World despite the company’s stance against parents having rights to protect their young children from inappropriate indoctrination. Seems to be a bit ironic.
Anyway, an entertainment tax on television, movies, and amusement parks that would be at the same tax rate as what the top 1% should be paying on their federal income taxes (slightly above 50%) would help remind Americans that we are all in this together to help our country get out of our $36 trillion national debt.
CONFLICTING COMMITMENTS
I got behind a family vehicle recently at a stoplight and noticed two small TV’s above the back seats…playing identical children’s programming. And then I noticed the license plate with the words “Autism Awareness”. Too funny. Too funny.

Historical events of the late 1960’s/early 1970’s that would play a major role in Americans turning on their presidents who had won their last elections in landslides.
The Tet Offensive. 1968.
“The Tet offensive proved in fact a serious psychological defeat for the United States because it suggested the unreliability of Johnson’s claims about an imminent South Vietnamese-United States victory. …The Tet offensive destroyed much of whatever political support Johnson still commanded among antiwar Democrats and threw his strategic planners into confusion.” –from the Third Edition of Liberty Equality Power, an American history textbook
Two months after the start of the Tet offensive, President Johnson announced he would not run again for reelection as a Gallop poll showed that only 26% of Americans approved of his handling of the Vietnam War.
President Johnson had won 61% of the popular vote in 1964 while winning 486 electoral votes of the 538 needed.
The Watergate Break-In. 1972
The Watergate burglary in June 1972 involved employees of Nixon’s 1972 reelection committee that eventually was linked to several top White House aides in early 1973. President Nixon insisted that he took no part in the break-in or in any kind of cover-up. Eventually however over the coming months, events would prove otherwise and Nixon would end up having to resign from the White House in August of 1974.
President Nixon had won 60.7% of the popular vote in 1972 while winning 520 electoral votes of the 538 needed.

November 1968 and November 1972. Richard Nixon winning Presidential elections. (He had lost previously in 1960 in his political run for the White House to John F. Kennedy.) President Nixon would become the only American president forced to resign from office after he faced inevitable impeachment for obstructing justice during his handling of the Watergate scandal. Inevitable impeachment because of Republicans who put their country before their political party.
Speaking of Republicans putting their country before their political party…
Sorry for the delay, folks. So where am I going with this, you may be asking…It has to do with my admiration of Eisenhower and his tax policies during his presidency throughout the 1950’s. Republicans were wanting him to cut taxes for the rich, but he held his ground and stuck to his principles and his concern for the country not going into further debt after World War II and the deficit spending during the Great Depression. Eisenhower was elected president as a Republican.
Anyway, my plan is to eventually list and defend my choice for America’s finest four presidents since World War I. This will include back-to-back-to-back presidents, along with President Ronald Reagan, a Republican who would not recognize today’s Republican Party.
Actually, I’ll be writing about President John F. Kennedy as well. So really I’ll be writing about my top five picks. He did inspire the nation to accomplish humanity’s greatest scientific achievement inside of a decade and he saved the world from an all-out nuclear war during the Cuban Missile Crisis while preventing Fidel Castro from keeping nuclear weapons.
(I had to add the word “scientific” to that last paragraph. Humanity’s greatest achievement was what Jesus Christ did on the cross.)
